Fr. Dominic on CBS 2: Our own Fr. Dominic Clemente was interviewed by Vince Gerasole of CBS 2 News for a special feature on his role as priest and becoming a pastor. The interview aired on May 17, 2019.
Fr. Dominic Clemente is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago and was ordained in May 2016. Fr. Dom grew up on Chicago’s Northwest side (go Cubs!) where he attended his parish grade school and St. Patrick High School (go Shamrocks!). Before entering the seminary, Fr. Dom was seeking a career in the performing arts until God called him to a bigger stage and a wider audience. When Fr. Dom isn’t at his parish (St. Edward) you can find him eating a Chicago Hot Dog (most likely at Jimmy’s or Gene & Judes), traveling the world, or sleeping on his easy chair.
Even though Fr. Dom's high school dream was to be a Broadway Producer he always felt God calling him to priesthood since he was in seventh grade. While he didn't always want to answer the call, it was something that stuck with him while growing up. He attributes his call to the witness of good priests in his home parish who made the priesthood look exciting and attractive. After Fr. Dom began college he started thinking and praying about priesthood more and more and eventually decided to enter the college seminary.
Fr. Dom attended St. Joseph College Seminary at Loyola University Chicago in January 2010 after transferring in as a sophomore. After completing two and half years at St. Joseph College Seminary, with a B.A. in Philosophy, Fr. Dom moved on to the University of St. Mary of the Lake/ Mundelein Seminary in August 2012, where he studied for his Masters in Divinity (M.Div.).
