The St. Ed’s Green Team uses our interests and talents to serve our community by finding opportunities to share the great outdoors and protect its health and beauty through clean-ups, hikes, and events. We seek to better educate and inspire our community through movie nights, and speakers that highlight the balance between urban living and our natural resources. We will promote ways to be a voice against the destruction of creation through our legislature. Through our liturgy, we pray for those most affected by loss of food and livelihood and will offer spiritual exercises for fasting and meditation.
Meetings are on now in person on the 1st Wednesday of the month, 7 PM-8:30 PM in the conference room, August-April.
Email lizheinrich.sted[email protected] for details on where the meetings are held.
Saturday, October 28, 9AM-11AM at Bunker Hill Forest Preserve (Caldwell and Tonty)
Walk footpaths through ravines and prairies with an expert guide, and experience how the preserve changes throughout the fall season. Limit 15 adults, children with parents welcome! Sign up required.
3 beehouses were installed around the church by parishioner and beekeeper Steve Klima, with help from the Green Team. Steve has donated his NON-STINGING pollinators to help our gardens grow. For more information about solitary bees, go to www.crownbees.com
As a note: there is a small container of rocks and clay under each beehouse that the bees will need for water and housing material. The bees will awaken in the coming warmer weeks. He has donated blue orchard/Mason, leaf cutter, Texas and California Osmia, and sunflower bees.
Thank you Steve!
