Family Faith Formation is an alternative to traditional religious education that encourages and equips parents to teach their children the Faith.
By attending two meetings a month, parents who participate receive everything they need to teach their children about the Catholic Faith at home. Our program enables Catholic parents to take on their role as the primary educators of their children. We help parents deepen their own understanding of the Faith and provide them with the tools and resources they need to instill in their children a love of Christ and His Church. Most importantly, we offer parents a detailed picture of what an authentic and vibrant Catholic family looks like, as well as the tools to make this vision come to life in their own home.
Family Faith Formation Program Overview
* There is a general theme throughout the whole year that all our families will focus on together.
* Parents gather the first Tuesday of each month (September-May) to learn everything necessary to fulfill their role as the primary educators of their children.
* Parents then teach their children at home one to two lessons a week with the help of an easy-to-use Parent Guide and student Activity Book.
* On the fourth Sunday of the month (September-May), all participating families gather together to attend the 9:30am Mass, and then enjoy a potluck brunch in Unity Hall. Over the year, there is a wide variety of activities focused on strengthening our parish community, reflecting back on what we have learned, and deepening our love of the Sacraments. -
Raising children calls for an orderly process of handing on the faith. This is made difficult by current lifestyles, work schedules and the complexity of today’s world, where many people keep up a frenetic pace just to survive.
Even so, the home must continue to be the place where we learn to appreciate the meaning and beauty of the faith, to pray and to serve our neighbor. Family catechesis is of great assistance as an effective method in training young parents to be aware of their mission as the evangelizers of their own family.-Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia #287
