The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament for the living, not the deceased. It is no longer called “extreme unction” or “last rites.” This Sacrament is meant for those who are sick and suffering in mind, body, or spirit. If you are going in for an operation, find out you have a disease (physical or psychological), suffering from an addiction, get rushed to the hospital for an emergency, or are getting up in years and feeling tired and worn out, please call the rectory and one of the priests would love to come and offer you this sacrament of healing.
It’s important that you call the priests in the rectory because hospitals don’t call the parish automatically anymore. You need to call us yourself or ask the hospital chaplain to call us. We can also come to your home and offer the sacrament or you can come to the rectory or church. This sacrament can be received more than once and should not be delayed until death is imminent. Call the rectory at 773 - 545-6496 In case of emergency and rectory is closed, after the message, dial 9.
